At Wheeler Architects, we believe in giving back to the community. As a long-time resident of Alexandria, I have served the community in many capacities and have found that it has benefits to my clients. As a 12-year member of the Old and Historic District Board of Architectural Review, I studied thousands of residential and commercial projects. By analyzing so many projects in my specialty of renovation and additions, I was exposed to a wide range of different project types, treatments and solutions which served to inform and broaden my view of design and problem solving. My current role as a member of the Building Code Board of Appeals continues to educate and deepen my understanding of the regulatory environment. Architecture today is ever-changing and it is the job of the architect to stay knowledgeable about new developments in design and materials, code changes and continuing improvements in building science.
